What is your schedule/availability?
I typically have the following schedule:
Feel free to email me to book an appointment if you are hoping to book a session but canβt find a time that works for you. I am sometimes able to accommodate sessions outside the schedule below.
Mondays and Wednesdays: afternoons and evenings. Wednesdays I am in my in-person office in Cornwall.
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: daytimes. I typically run workshops/groups on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Please note that due to my chronic health issues, this schedule can differ due to medical appointments.
Iβm located in ____, can you see me as a client?
I am a registered social worker with the OSWSSW (Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers), and have approval to work virtually with Quebec residents. I will soon be joining the ACSW (Alberta College of Social Workers) as well. This means I can see folks from Ontario (in-person and virtual), Quebec (virtual only) and soon Alberta (virtual only). If you are outside of these provinces, I may be able to share some folks that could be a good fit, just send me a message!
Do you accept sliding scale or NIHB funding?
Yes, I have limited sliding scale spots available.
Yes, I am an NIHB provider (which allows me to direct bill NIHB).
Sliding scale starts at $60/60 min session and can be set in increments up to the standard fee for sessions ($190/60 minute session).
I do not require proof of income for determining the fee, however ask folks to consider their experiences of wealth and privilege. While this is not a set-in-stone rule, a general example could be the following (adapted from Alexis J. Cunningfolkβs Green Bottle Method):
If you are able to meet your basic needs (food, housing, transportation), own your home or rent a higher-end property, are employed or do not need to work to meet your needs, can always choose to buy items new if needed (opposed to used or thrifted), can take an annual vacation or time off, etc. - you may likely be a fit for a full session fee.
If you experience stress over meeting your basic needs (food, housing, transportation) but can still regularly achieve them, are employed, own or lease a car, have some debt that doesnβt prohibit your achievement of basic needs, can buy some new items and thrift others, can take a vacation annually or every few years, etc. - you may likely be a fit for a mid-range sliding scale session fee.
If you frequently stress about meeting your basic needs (food, housing, transportation), you have debt that prohibits your ability to meet your basic needs, you rent lower-end properties or have unstable housing, are unemployed or underemployed, qualify for government assistance for financial or disability support, or cannot afford to take a vacation, etc. - you may likely be a fit for the lowest of the sliding scale session fees or may benefit from using low or no-cost counselling options in your area.
I want to recognize that it is tough out there and this may still be unreachable for many folks. I am happy to provide a list of low or no-cost counselling options in the area.
